The stars were in action at Harvey Norman Beach Footy!

The biggest names in rugby league and some of Australia’s hottest celebrities visited Maroubra Beach on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December 2006 between 10am and 6pm for the inaugural Harvey Norman Beach Footy. This unique five-a-side touch football event showcased six sides including the Blues, Maroons, Young Guns, Kiwis, Celebrities and Australian Women’s Touch Team.

Harvey Norman Beach Footy brought football, fashion and fun together in a lifestyle event for the whole family. Set against a backdrop of live music on the sands of Maroubra Beach, this footy-packed two-day event definitely got footy fans into the festive mood.

Harvey Norman Beach Footy was a free event and featured live performances by 2006 Australian Idol winner Damien Leith, and Sony BMG artists The Hiptones and The Inches. Bikini contests, fashion parades, cheerleaders and a special visit by Santa for the kids were also key features at Harvey Norman Beach Footy. There was something for everyone at Harvey Norman Beach Footy and fans had the chance to get up close to all their footy stars.

A unique factor about Harvey Norman Beach Footy was that team captains were able to nominate which players they wanted to field in their teams. With captains such as Mark Gasnier (Blues), Billy Slater (Young Guns), Darren Lockyer (Maroons) the event was sure to guarantee significant talent playing at the event and it certainly did.
